High School Internship Colloquium
Thursday, March 7 at WPI
Join MassHire Central, the STEM Education Center at WPI, and the Central Massachusetts STEM Network for its first internship colloquium. The event will start at 1pm with workshops for industry professionals about the impact internships have on high school students. High school administrators and educators, including internship coordinators, are invited to join us at 3pm for conversation and networking between industry professionals and educators. Educators are welcome to attend the earlier industry-focused workshops. We are looking for presenters. Industry partners who have had successful, paid high school internships and are interested in sharing about their internship structure should contact Ethan Brown of the MassHire Central Region Workforce Board (firstname.lastname@example.org). Educators who are interested in sharing their experiences of placing high school students in internships and the impact these experiences have on students should contact Katie Elmes (email@example.com). Registration to attend the event will open in early February on our website. This event primarily focuses on educators and schools located in south central Massachusetts.
This colloquium is made possible through funding from the Massachusetts Department of Education and the STEM Advisory Council and builds upon efforts by the MA STEM@Work campaign by the Baker-Polito Administration. Through initiatives like this, the Administration seeks to expand access to high quality STEM education for students across the Commonwealth, including participation in paid STEM-focused internship opportunities.
